Bori Laki – Certified holistic birth and postpartum doula
I came across the word ‘doula’ after my own two births, when I was helping a friend of mine with hers. I instantly became fascinated with the process of pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period itself. I helped my friend and some of my family members with their babies during the birth and helped them and many other friends as a birth and postpartum doula after their babies were born. Not very long after, I decided that this will be my path in life. I loved seeing women so powerful and overcome their fears and worries, thus birthing their babies with strength and confidence.
The word ‘doula’ — pronounced ‘doo-la’ — is a Greek word meaning ‘woman servant or caregiver’. More recently, it refers to someone who offers emotional and physical support to a woman and her partner before, during and after childbirth. A doula (also known as a birth attendant) believes in ‘mothering the mother’. She enables a woman and her partner to have the most satisfying birth experience possible, from pregnancy and into motherhood. This type of support allows the whole family to relax and enjoy the experience too.
